Program Coordinator

Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding is looking for an experienced PATH Intl. Certified Instructor to teach in and coordinate our program.  Applicants should be comfortable teaching both private and group lessons to students with a wide range of disabilities.  We are seeking a strong instructor who is a team player, is well organized and has outstanding communication skills.  Please send your resume to Murray Neale at exd@catr-program.org.

Mentoring for PATH Intl. Instructor Training

Prerequisite Skills: Strong basic riding and horsemanship skills as outlined in PATH Intl. Registered Level Instructor Criteria. Prior teaching experience, experience working with individuals with disabilities and/or volunteering in a therapeutic riding program are strongly preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong desire to learn and to be a positive team member. Attending a CATR Volunteer Orientation & Sidewalker Training as well as a Horse Leader Training is required.

Description: CATR is pleased to offer mentoring towards certification for individuals working on PATH Intl. Registered and Advanced Level Riding Certifications as well as PATH Intl. Interactive Vaulting Certification. We have several trained mentors on our teaching staff.

Typically, we frame our mentoring program around an Instructor-in-Training Internship, which involves completing a specified number of volunteer hours for CATR either before mentoring begins or simultaneously with mentored teaching. We often ask Instructor-in-Training Interns to complete an internship project that benefits CATR's students and to pay an administrative fee at the beginning of the internship. This fee helps to off-set the time that CATR instructors will spend orienting the Instructor-in-Training to our program.

To Apply: Please send a cover letter expressing your interest, time frame and availability along with a resume to Anja Cain at acain@catr-program.org. After reviewing these materials, we may ask you to submit a riding video demonstrating your current riding skills at walk/trot and canter or if you prefer, to come to BEC for a riding assessment, which has an associated fee of $50. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you!
